About MyPorch
MyPorch helps home bakers and cottage food producers sell legally from their homes. We publish authoritative, state-by-state cottage food law guides and build the practical tools — labeling, ordering, and storefronts — that a home bakery needs to run day to day.
Cottage food law is fragmented, confusingly worded, and changes constantly. Most of what is online is outdated or uncited. We started MyPorch to fix that: to turn the actual statutes into clear, current, source-backed answers a baker can trust. Here is exactly how we research and review every guide.
Ryan Kaufman, Founder
I’m Ryan — a home baker with a soft spot for sourdough and the founder of MyPorch. I built this platform because I kept running into the same wall every home baker hits: it is genuinely hard to get a straight answer about what you are and aren’t allowed to sell from your kitchen.
I come from a business and software background, and I did the primary-source research behind our 50-state guides myself — reading the statutes and official state health-department guidance rather than repeating what other sites say. MyPorch is informational and is not legal advice; when a decision really matters, check with your state agency or an attorney. Our job is to get you to the right question with the real source in hand.
